Frequently Asked Questions

What are meals/nutrition like? Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Clients will enjoy 3 full meals each day and additional snacks. Our onsite chef will prepare all meals on campus. Clients eat seasonal, fresh foods that promote their overall health. We can accommodate dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, Kosher, and vegan diets. Eating healthy is a priority, as we understand that fueling our body helps improve our physical, mental, and spiritual health.

What type of insurance coverage is available at your program?

Insurance funding may be available depending on your family’s policy/provider and your child’s medical necessity. As a licensed private-pay facility we work Bridgeway Billing, a third-party advocate, to help families navigate available insurance.

Where do clients sleep?

Clients sleep in log cabins spread across our campus in a dormitory style setting. Cabins are equipped with forced air gas furnaces and full bathrooms.

Can my child maintain their schoolwork while at Triple Divide?

Yes, we will meet your child where they are in their academic journey. Our academic program is a hybrid model of traditional classroom instruction with packet work.

What is the average length of stay? How is that determined?

Most clients stay at our wilderness therapy program for around 90 days. Progress is assessed on a weekly basis and length of stay will depend on your individual child’s needs. Collectively, the clinical team will make the decision of when a client is ready to move on to the next level of care. Progress will be communicated through the course of treatment.

How often will I be able to speak with my child?

After the initial 2 weeks of treatment, you will speak with your child a minimum of once per week.

What does the transition/aftercare process at Triple Divide look like?

A continuing care plan will be provided for each client as they approach discharge. Recommendations will be based on information gathered from the treatment team as well as any outside resources involved in the case. To support your child’s ongoing recovery, our team will work with your family to help put in place a solid continuing care plan that meets your child’s individual needs after leaving our wilderness therapy program.

How often will my child be receiving therapy?

Clients will receive a minimum of 2 formal individual sessions per week, and participate in group sessions 6 days a week. In addition to these formal sessions, clients will have multiple impromptu interactions with clinicians. TDL utilizes a team approach to treatment and has clinical staff on site seven days a week. All clinicians have familiarity with each case and can bring their individual skills to bear with clients in these “informal” interactions that enhance the therapeutic process.

How does TDL provide information to parents?

Information is provided primarily through phone calls. Video conferences, and/or written updates may also be provided based on family preferences.

How often will I be able to see my child during the process?

TDL holds a family program for each family to participate in during the course of treatment. Outside of that, any visits will be held based on therapeutic necessity. Clients will have uncensored incoming and outgoing mail as a means of communication outside of this event.

Is TDL a wilderness program?

Triple Divide is not officially a wilderness program although it does incorporate many adventure aspects of other wilderness programs.

Does TDL have any religious affiliations?

No. Triple Divide is not affiliated with any sect, denomination, or religious organization. We believe spirituality can be found through many different areas and encourage our clients to practice whatever spirituality means to them.

Are Psychotropic medications used as part of the therapy? How are medications handled?

Clients on medication prior to coming to treatment are encouraged to continue taking their medications upon admission. All medication will be reviewed and monitored by the medical team and assessed throughout the course of treatment for appropriateness. With a period of abstinence, stabilization, and growth we are able to monitor and assess clients’ response to medications to gain a clearer picture of what’s in their best interest.

Do residents have recreational opportunities?

Yes, we believe that recovery should be fun and we want to expose our clients to a variety of recreational activities to encourage them to do things they’ve never done before and reconnect with things they’ve enjoyed in the past. You can read more about these activities here.
