Mental Health Therapist (LPC, LMFT, LCSW)

Mental Health Therapist

The Mental Health Therapist is a member of the clinical team responsible for helping to integrate mental health into all aspects of the program through running individual and group therapy, as well as taking part in daily life and client activities. As a member of the clinical team, the Therapist will work with Licensed Addiction Counselors and Clinical Director, and collaborate with other departments to ensure maximum clinical effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Practice and gain proficiency in all areas of therapy and addiction counseling.
  • Assists in treatment planning; prepares preliminary plan for approval, provides group and individual counseling for assigned clients; develops and presents didactic material to clients and staff.
  • Conducts family interviews and provides for referral to appropriate community resources; holds continuing care plan conferences involving clients, families, and concerned parties.
  • Fulfill case management responsibilities for caseload.
  • Practices and gains proficiency in all areas of therapy and addiction counseling.
  • Assists in treatment planning; prepares preliminary plan for approval, provides group and individual counseling for assigned clients; develops and presents didactic material to clients and staff.
  • Conducts family interviews and provides for referral to appropriate community resources; holds continuing care plan conferences involving clients, families, and concerned parties.
  • Applies a variety of recognized individual, family, and group counseling techniques as appropriate to the demonstrated needs.
  • Addresses individual clients’ mental health issues in conjunction with SUD treatment.
  • Documents and reports on patient responses and progress to superiors and other members of the treatment team; prepares patient intake, activities, treatment and progress, transfer, discharge summaries, and related records; maintains patient follow-up through established contact procedures.
  • Performs family sessions to assist in addressing issues related to the client and their family’s needs.
  • Works with counselors to assure clients achieve individual treatment plans and programmatic goals.
  • Assures all areas of programming i.e., academic, adventure, etc. is integrated into the therapeutic process.
  • Participates and gains experience in Experiential/Adventure Therapy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in human services field (social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, or related field).
  • Licensed or has the ability to be licensed in the state of Montana – LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, or equivalent.
  • Treatment philosophy congruent with that of the program.
  • Training and knowledge in Wilderness/Adventure programming preferred.
  • Further his/her education and training in the field of addiction counseling.
  • Speak professionally and in a positive manner representing the facility and its philosophy of treatment to any group concerning alcoholism.
  • Adhere to all facility policy manuals.
  • Will hold a current certification in basic first aid and CPR.
  • Experience with adolescent treatment preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • If in recovery, must have at least three continuous years of sobriety/abstinence.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to hike and navigate rough terrain.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Participate in outdoor activities year-round.
  • Able to walk, bend, and move in the course of completing duties.

Recovery Support Specialist/Mentor

Job Overview

The Recovery Support Specialist team covers the hours of 5 pm – 8 am. There is a 2-week schedule with shifts ranging in length from 7 – 14 hours – this allows each Recovery Support Specialist to have at least two consecutive days off per week, a mix of evening and overnight shifts, and always at least two people working.

The Recovery Support Specialists position facilitates client activities, provides supervision, and maintains program expectations and boundaries. During the evening hours, duties will include facilitating dinner and clean up, engaging with the clients, facilitating scheduled activities, and chaperoning clients to in-town 12 Steps meetings twice a week. Once the clients are in bed for the night (in their cabins by 10 pm and lights out by 10:15 pm) the Recovery Support Specialists complete rounds to ensure the security of the buildings on campus and that clients are where they are supposed to be. Along with these rounds, there are also rotating daily tasks to ensure the upkeep of the facility and seasonal tasks such as maintaining fires in wood stoves, shoveling snow, and general upkeep of the walkways.

  • Oversee client activities and safety.
  • Ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Driving responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assists clients with their engagement in therapeutic aspects of the program.
  • Has situational awareness of clients’ whereabouts at all times and performs bed checks throughout the night.
  • Become familiar with 12-step and clinical processes.
  • Follows and enforces rules and disciplinary procedures of the clients. Reports any inappropriate client behaviors.
  • In the event of a medical or clinical emergency or a natural disaster, (i.e. fire) safeguards lives and initiates the crisis management plan.
  • Performs clerical functions (i.e., copying, assembling blank charts, answering the telephone) as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess or quickly attain a current First Aid Basic and CPR or greater.
  • Must be able and willing to facilitate a therapeutic environment for clients within their care.
  • Possessed excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates the following skills: respect, discretion, regarding self-disclosure, openness to feedback, and giving objective feedback.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. If in recovery, must have at least one continuous year of sobriety/abstinence.

Program Director

Pay: $53,000- $63,000
Bonus: Sign-on Bonus of $1,000 after 6 mths. of FT qualifying employment

 

Distinguishing Characteristics:

The Program Director oversees Triple Divide Lodge’s programming. The P.D. oversees staff skills development and familiarity with program philosophies and is responsible for the integration of  12-step related philosophies into all aspects of treatment.  The Program Director oversees the program’s physical environment, seeing to it that policies and procedures are adhered to and that appropriate risk management standards are applied. The position also sees that needed equipment is acquired and maintained to ensure functionality and safety. They collaborate with the Clinical Director and Executive Director to ensure the success of the program.

 

Supervision provided through:

  • Adherence to policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Facility Quality Assurance
  • Direct observation
  • Staff meetings and Inservices.
  • Individual meetings as needed
  • Disciplinary and grievance procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook
  • Culminates in an annual performance review 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meets weekly with subordinate staff and facilitates treatment review meetings.
  • Staff scheduling.
  • Supervises and manages program staff in all areas of program responsibilities.
  • Assists in the writing and maintaining of policies ensuring compliance with state rules for program licensure.
  • Collaborates with the Clinical Director to train and/or assist in the training of staff.
  • Be available 24 hours to respond to critical issues that arise.
  • Assists in overseeing individualized achievement plans based on clients’ specific needs and reflecting client participation and progress in the program’s specialized curriculum.
  • Oversees management of field-related records i.e. scheduling, and permitting
  • Responsible for managing and creating effective field teams, initiating and implementing philosophical and programmatic changes as needed.
  • Supervises and directs workshops as necessary.
  • Has oversight of the program in the absence of the Executive Director.

Wilderness Instructor/Mentor

Distinguishing Characteristics:  

The position of Wilderness Instructor/Mentor is considered a professional position.  Wilderness Instructors/Mentors are responsible for monitoring and overseeing clients and in supporting clinicians throughout the day on campus to assist in the client’s therapeutic process. They oversee and participate in operations related to the adventure aspects of the program. Instructors will work a schedule combining a 40-hour full-time weekly schedule on campus with trips into the backcountry.

Supervision provided through:

  • Individual meetings as needed

  • Facilitate challenge course activities.
  • Facilitate recreational activities.
  • Demonstrating and teaching rock climbing, rappelling, challenge course, map and compass use, backcountry safety, and practices for winter and summer environments.
  • Distributing, caring for, and repairing outdoor equipment and clothing.
  • Leading adventure outings and trips while adhering to the field curriculum.
  • Assisting with coordinating with Forest Service and Dept of Interior or others for itineraries and/or evacuations.
  • Planning meals and itineraries for expeditions.
  • Oversee client activities and safety in the field and onsite, and assist clinicians and clients as needed. 
  • In charge of implementing risk management protocol, evacuation protocol, and all other safety protocol measures while in the field and onsite. 
  • Become familiar with the A.A. 12-step clinical processes and assist clinical staff in clients engagement of the therapeutic aspects of the program while integrating A.A. philosophies and therapy into outdoor adventure aspects of the program.

  • 1 plus years of experience working with struggling teens.
  • Current First Aid and CPR.
  • Knowledge of travel in bear country
  • Training and experience in trail work, search and rescue, and/or fly fishing is desirable.
  • Rock Climbing and Rappelling skills
  • Winter Camping experience or understanding.

Physical Requirements:
